LAX > CUN
Mon July 24
Moon Palace Cancun
Carretera Cancun-Chetumal Km. 36.5, Riviera Maya, 77500 Cancún, Q.R., Mexico
http://www.moonpalacecancun.com/en-us
Our stay was all-inclusive, VIP.
Everyone gets a wristband that denotes the member level.
I think it was concierge > vip > diamond > residence?
Something like that.
There are three lobbies: Grand, Nizuc, and Sunrise.
Each of them are decorated totally differently and offer a variety of restaurants and activities.
You could walk between them by sidewalk by the beach but the resort is pretty massive.
We never went farther than between Sunrise and Nizuc by foot.
There is shuttle service between them so it's not difficult to try everything the entire compound has to offer.
We stayed at Sunrise, luckily in a room very close to the lobby and pools.
The front of Sunrise lobby.
Our first meal was breakfast at La Gondola.
Basically typical things like eggs, french toast, cereal, bacon, sausage, pastries, etc.
There were also some Mexican dishes like meats and tropical juice drinks.
Mom & dad.
On our way out to see the pools and beach.
It was actually kind of a strange thing to have VIP and be able to sit in a reserved place on the beach lmao.
With its own bar, too. We didn't even take advantage of that.
It was hard to get used to the humidity.
I was still wearing long pants and itching to get in the pool asap.
We got our clothes from where the bellboys were holding our luggage and got ready to get in.
Super early still, not many people in the pool yet.
I really loved seeing the clouds like this.
The hotel is so grand and it makes the scenery even nicer.
Lunch at Bugambilias. International buffet. There was poke!
For some reason I liked eating any raw fish sooo I got a lot of that.
Not even hungry because we went too hard at breakfast but I enjoyed lunch here!
I think this was a lemon tart thing?
Finally allowed to go to our rooms.
It was a pain waiting like...6 hours to get in.
View from the balcony.
There's two chairs, a small table, and a hammock!
First dinner at Momo.
Nothing really special, my entree was a beef stir fry and literally had like one piece of meat...
Actually, the dessert was really good though.
Fried oreos? Something like that.
Second dinner.
Idk what we were thinking.
Uhhh I wasn't expecting it to look like this but here we are.
I think it was a lamb chop.
Pretty good, I liked the risotto under it a lot.
Son's risotto.
Tue July 25
Breakfast at La Gondola again, I think.
On our way out to the beach for kayaking.
We were so lazy, we barely went out at like 1PM?
I'm not even sure what we did this day.
We probably went in the pool after, got drinks.
Maybe fries from the outdoor cart this day too, lmao.
For sure went to mass.
Then took the shuttle to Nizuc and had dinner at Arrecifes, Brazilian steakhouse?
Basically, there's a buffet for salad/soup/rice and the waiters come by with cuts of meat.
They cut pieces for you if you want it and continuously bring different meats.
Pretty good but I'd rather just know and pick sooner than wait for them haha.
Walked back to Sunrise by the beach side walk.
The Nizuc pools look a lot smaller than Sunrise but very similar.
Minigolfing somewhere in the Sunrise section.
Wed July 26
Breakfast at Bugambilias.
Waiting for the bus.
Shuttled out to the Hotel Zone.
Beach Palace.
The waves were pretty hard so we just decided to go back to the pool.
Be and Son actually went on the parachute boat ride.
Pool volleyball
Food...their buffet was good.
There was a really good hibiscus cucumber drink.
The photobomb though
Another second dinner bc Quang didn't come to the beach...
La Gondola. Why.
Complimentary...fish?
Gnocchi
Another dinner at Bugambilias lmao.
Thu July 27
Lunch at Bugambilias.
We just woke up super late lmao.
Went kayaking again with parents this time.
Went to dinner at Jade at the Grand.
Mushrooms! Sweet.
The dish on the left still cracks me up.
Some gastronomy or something.
There's a froth and I believe it was supposed to be a pureed cauliflower?
Right was scallops.
We ordered more right away cause it was so little!
Spicy seafood soup.
Restrooms at the Grand!
Had to take a pic because ???
I love the sight of the jungle.
It's just so crazy and beautiful.
Fri July 28
To Ventura Park.
By ferry.
Pretty much a water park.
Really small but decent.
There were some things that were under construction, unfortunately.
Went on a zipline rollercoaster, lazy river, saw a dolphin show, tube slide.
Oh, actually rode one roller coaster 3 times.
The food in the cafeteria there was definitely not up to par with the hotel, like at all.
A pic of Mexican currency because that's probably the only time we held some the entire vacation.
These enamel magnets were so freaking cute.
Back to the hotel.
Met with family again to go to Palapa Fragata because...seafood?
Too much food, gah.
Sat July 29
Pretty much took the bus up to the hotel zone again.
Seriously beautiful skies.
Taking a boat to Dolphin Discovery at Isla Mujeres.
Never saw water in this color before.
Taking selfies again
We actually swam in the water here, using life vests.
It was pretty crazy and cool.
If this isn't crazy idek
Ah, beautiful sight
Ah, dinner at Bugambilias.
My favorite place. Probably because I like the buffets the most.
Also another loved place, the ice cream, sandwiches, crepes.
The hibiscus popsicle was so good.
Sun, July 30
Last day!
Went to mass in the morning.
Breakfast at Los Caporales.
--pool??--
Pretty sure I went in the pool at least once a day.
Ohh we played with the water ball thing that Son bought.
And got drinksss ofc.
And fries.
Dunno if we ate lunch too.
Ohhh, actually, I waded in the ocean and walked out in the very shallow part.
The water wasn't very pretty but there were fish swimming around me.
It was really weird, very quiet but amazing.
Shuttle over to the Grand for dinner.
The Grand Buffet.
Probably our favorite overall, wondered why we didn't go here earlier.
Look at that ridiculous steak.
Sunset.
Last time in the Sunrise lobby!
Overall, it was a really interesting experience.
I had a good time, ate a lot, swam a lot, just relaxed.
I probably wouldn't want to go here again unless I felt like being pampered.
We pretty much didn't really leave the resort at all.
I saw someone else mention it in their blog, it really is a strange feeling to be waited on so meticulously.
We gave tips almost all the time though.
I think I'd rather be able to explore and see the real people and real city in my travels.
But yeah, fun and relaxing.
